My Mission
Someone asked me “What is your Mission Statement” Dan? I can only draw on my life’s experiences and memories to answer that question. Remember your childhood best friend and, how just thinking about that person fills you with a sense of peace, joy or just a sort of hazy contentment. The Piano is one of my most loyal and enjoyable best friends. Music gives me joy at a concert well performed, solace when alone or at a sad moment, and, camaraderie when working musically with other like minded folks. It fills me with that hazy contentment just playing a few chords.
Over the years, like many of us, I have had occasion to meet people in many walks of life including factory workers, log truck drivers, long haul truckers, teachers, students, lawyers, bankers, brokers, artists, software developers, clergy, doctors, chartered accountants, plumbers and electricians. I am always surprised by the number of these people who have had some Musical Education, and, in most cases proudly admitted to having taken Piano. These musicians can be found accompanying their community theatre group, playing professionally at nightly gigs, helping out at a church or holiday concert, or simply getting together to play music. Most of these people found that music helped them to think more clearly, be a little more disciplined, and feel more fulfilled. I agree with many of them who said that their music studies helped them to build confidence, get more out of their chosen career, build stronger personal relationships and, most important of all, have some fun in their lives. “Have the best life you can have…..Be a Pianist”!
That’s my Mission Statement.
